These smoky gray leaves have a shimmery iridescent finish with hints of purples, golds and blues in them. I really had no idea what I would do with them. So I put them back…But my eyes kept going back to them. I thought maybe…nah, then…come on, you can come up with something. So I accepted the challenge and bought them.
A few days later, I sat in my studio thinking…these are a bit big for what I normally design. Why, in the world did I buy these? Then my heart skipped a beat…I remembered that I have some genuine amethyst beads. My amethyst beads have veins and variations in the color intensity that add to their beauty. And that, my friends, is how these earrings were born.
I am working on adding a necklace to the family. I think it will be matinee or opera length which are longer than average at 20-34 inches long. But who knows…I might change my mind a few times before I am happy with it. That is just part of my process. But look at the swirl in each of these leaves. Doesn’t it kind of remind you of ruffles? Stay tuned for the necklace addition.
